Orlando, April 28th, 2017: Our talk at the American Institute of Architects Convention

“Sense and the City: Active Design and Slowness”

How can design profit from semiology and ethnography to aid the emotional value of place? How can it help balance active design principles that encourage physical activity with the shaping of urban oases of calm?

In collaboration with the City of New York’s Department of Design and Construction, SemioTiPS will present an analysis of public spaces in Paris and New York City. We will discuss methods to help cities design relevant and meaningful parks and plazas.

Speakers:

Rick Bell, Executive Director of Design and Contruction Excellence for the City of New York’s Department of Design and Construction

Gwenaëlle de Kerret, Semiologist and Research Director, SemioTiPS
